Agenda:

  1. Call to Order by the Chair Bob Page at 7:20 a.m.
     
  2. Circulation of "sign-in" sheet by Vice Chair Bill LeBold
     
  3. Approval of Minutes from the June 18, 1997, Fellows Breakfast Business meeting of   the Academy of Fellows that were distributed by mail and the Internet was requested.. Moved. seconded and approved by voice vote.
     
  4. New Members were introduced by Bob Page and warmly welcomed:
    Eleanor Baum, J. Ray Bowen, Bill L. Cooper, Fred W. Emshousen, Donald E. Kirk, L. Glenn Kraige, Karl Smith, and Mahbub Uddin. Carl Zorowski was also elected a new ASEE Fellow, but was unable to attend the Fellows Breakfast meeting.
     
  5. Bob Page asked for comments on the ASEE Academy of Fellows Newsletter. General consensus was that it should be continued.
     
  6. Bob Page asked for Comments on the ASEE academy of Fellows -World Wide Web home page. Bill Le Bold reported that in the future the homepage would be maintained by the ASEE Webmaster. However, the copy would be sent by the Vice Chair to the ASEE webmaster and the ASEE Headquarters staff member who was responsible for the Academy of Fellows, (Mary Cecile Neville)

  7. Mary Neville, ASEE Headquarters reviewed the actions of this year's Fellow Awards Committee. Bob Page noted that there was a continued effort to recommend industrial members as ASEE Fellows.
     
  8. The chair asked for comments on any of the action items. Bill LeBold noted that the Technical Session: ASEE Nostalgia was well received with about 20 attending. Larry Grayson had put together the combination video and slide show, but was unable to present the material because of a heart problem from which he is rapidly recovering. Bob Page did a superb job in presenting the wonderful nostalgic material Larry had collected. Larry Burris presented a copy of the "Salute to Joe" Biedenbach which was prepared for the 1991 CIEC reception , nine months after Joe's death. A copy is appended to these minutes.
     
  9. The Chair Bob Page noted that the Chair of the Nominating Committee, George Burnet was unable to attend. However, the Nominating Committee had sent him the following nominations:
    Chair: Bill LeBold
    Vice Chair and Secretary: Larry Wolf
    The chair asked if there were any other nominations. A motion was made and seconded that nominations be closed and the slate be elected by voice vote. The motion carried and the new officers elected.
     
  10. The Chair Bob Page thanked the Fellows for the opportunity to have served and wished the new officers well. The Chair -Elect Bill LeBold thanked Bob for his warm and diligent service. Bill also noted the at he had received letters from Leighton Collins and Vince Haneman regretting that they could not attend this year's ASEE Annual Conference.

     
  11. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 am.
