Types of Membership

For Individuals:

Professional:

Persons occupying or having occupied responsible positions in engineering instruction, research, or practice, and other persons having a demonstrated professional interest in engineering education. They may come from within or without the academic environment. Dues: $69/year, US; $84/year, Canada/Mexico; $99/year, International.

Retired:

Professional members who have retired from full-time employment. Dues: $30/year.

Life:

Professional members whose years of age plus years of continuous paid membership in ASEE totals 100 or more, upon application to and approval by the ASEE Board of Directors or the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. Dues: None.

Student:

Matriculated post-secondary students interested in engineering, technology, or engineering/technology education as a career. Dues: $20/year.

K-12 Educator:

Teachers and administrators in K-12 schools or school systems who have a special interest in science, engineering, technology, and math education. Dues: $35/year.

Global On-Line:

Persons outside North America who are interested in engineering/technology education and who receive their ASEE membership benefits exclusively over the Internet. Dues: $39/year.

Contact/Representative:

Persons at member institutions, of any Institutional Membership type except K-12, designated by the institution's key contact to receive free individual membership through, and concurrent with, the institution's membership. Individuals can not join ASEE as Contact/Representative members. Dues: None.

K-12 Contact:

Persons at member K-12 institutions designated by the institution's key contact, or by the key contact of a member institution that has sponsored the K-12 institution's membership, to receive free individual membership through, and concurrent with, the K 12 institution's membership. Individuals can not join ASEE as K-12 Contact members. Dues: None.

Other distinctions:

Print Publications:

All members except Global On-Line members receive ASEE Prism at no charge. Contact/Representative members are entitled to receive both the Journal of Engineering Education and Profiles of Engineering & Engineering Technology Colleges at no charge. K-12 Educator and K-12 Contact members receive Profiles at no charge and may subscribe to JOEE at $10/year. Global On-Line members receive no printed materials. All other members may subscribe to either/both JOEE or/and Profiles at $10/year each.

Division Affiliation:

All members except Global On-Line members may affiliate with up to six Professional Interest Divisions. Contact/Representative and K-12 Contact members only are exempt from division dues. Dues: As established by each division.

Volunteer Leadership:

All members except Global On-Line members may serve as elected or appointed volunteers at any level within the Society, except that Campus Representatives must be Professional, non-retired Life, or dean/head Contact/Representative members.

Annual Meeting Registration Fee:

Retired members receive a 50% discount on registration. Life members pay $50. Student members pay nothing. All other members pay the standard member registration rate. All members pay for ticketed events.

For Organizations:

US/Canadian Academic:

Post-secondary schools in the USA and Canada that have at least one degree program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). US/Canadian member schools may designate up to four persons to receive free Contact/Representative individual membership—one for the dean/head, if he/she wishes to use it, and three to be assigned at the dean/head's discretion. Universities that have independent schools/colleges that meet the accreditation requirement may have independent institutional memberships, each entity paying full dues and having full benefits. Institutional Council representation is determined by the type of program accredited. Schools accredited in both engineering and technology can be members for both areas and pay a discounted dues rate for the dual membership. Dues: $1000/year for schools with Engineering or four-year Engineering Technology accreditation; $1800/year for one member entity with dual engineering and technology membership; $500/year for schools with two-year Engineering Technology accreditation only.

Engineering:

Accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET or by CEAB; representation to Engineering Deans Council (EDC).

Technology:

Accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission (TAC) of ABET, including associate level degree programs; representation to Engineering Technology Council (ETC).

College Affiliate:

Post-secondary schools in the USA and Canada that have engineering or technology programs that are not accredited by ABET or CEAB. College Affiliate member schools may designate one person to receive free Contact/Representative membership. College Affiliate member schools that are working toward engineering accreditation may apply for non-voting "Associate" representation to the EDC. All others have voting representation to the ETC. Dues: $250/year.

Non-US/Canadian Academic:

Post-secondary schools outside the USA and Canada that have engineering or technology programs that are accredited by their national equivalents to ABET. Non-US/Canadian member schools receive exactly the same benefits as US/Canadian member schools. Dues: $1000/year.

K-12:

K-12 schools or school systems, either public or private. K-12 institutional members can designate up to four people to receive free K-12 Contact individual membership, but do not have representation to any Institutional Council. Dues: $125/year.

Corporate:

For-profit businesses interested in engineering education or/and engineering that have 100 or more employees. Large organizations that have multiple branches, divisions, or locations may, at their option, have independent memberships for any of them, each with full membership benefits, including representation to the Corporate Member Council, and each paying full dues. Dues: $1000/year.

Corporate Affiliate:

For-profit businesses interested in engineering education or/and engineering that have fewer than 100 employees. Corporate Affiliate members may designate one person to receive free Contact/Representative individual membership and have voting representation to the Corporate Member Council. Dues: $250/year.

Government:

Governmental agencies or bodies, at any level of government, that are interested in engineering education or/and engineering. Government members have all the same benefits as Corporate members. Dues: $1000/year.

Association:

Not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations interested in engineering education or/and engineering that have 25 or more employees. Association members have all the same benefits as Corporate members. Dues: $1000/year.

Association Affiliate:

Not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations interested in engineering education or/and engineering that have fewer than 25 employees. Association Affiliate members have the same benefits as Corporate Affiliate members. Dues: $250/year.
