2011 LEMELSON/MIT INNOVATION AWARDS
ASEE INTRODUCES NEW WEB SITE/MEMBERSHIP DATA BASE. On or about September 1st, ASEE will introduce a new web site and a consolidated membership/papers/registration database system. Visitors to the new site will find a new layout, a new style, newly organized content and new logins. ASEE members will need to activate their account, log in with an email address and password. Beyond the new look and feel, ASEE will have an updated section for online membership renewals and personal information updates. Please be aware, however, that some web site functions and resources to which you are accustomed may not be available immediately or may be working from August 31 data for a short time. Meanwhile, be assured that Member Services and all other ASEE departments are here and ready to help you while all the conversions and updates are completed.
GLOBAL COLLOQUIUM. The 9th Annual ASEE Global Colloquium - The Week of the World Engineering Education Forum on Engineering Education (WEEF) will be held in Singapore, the week of October 17, 2010. The forum will bring five global engineering education organizations together for the first time. In Singapore, ASEE is partnering with the National University of Singapore and the Institute for Engineering Singapore. For details, go to www.weef2010.org
ASEE PROFESSIONAL INTEREST COUNCILS SPECIAL PROJECTS FUND.
The Professional Interest Councils have funds available to ASEE Divisions and Constituent Committees to fund special projects during 2010-2011. In order to fund as many projects as possible, each proposal will be limited to $500.00. A Division or Constituent Committee may apply for more than one project. Applications will be accepted from September 1, 2010 through October 15, 2010.

FRONTIERS IN EDUCATION CONFERENCE. This year's conference will be held October 27-30 at the Marriott Crystal Gateway Hotel, Arlington, Virginia. The conference will feature more than 400 peer-reviewed paper presentations and 15 workshops plus the opportunity to network with more than 500 like-minded professionals. CONSIDERING THE FUTURE OF K-12 STEM CURRICULA REPORT. A report by the Center for the Study of Mathematics Curriculum examines the rapid growth in features and use of educational media that supports STEM learning. The report focuses on key questions including:
What will a high-impact, technology-intensive STEM learning environment look like in the near and long term future?
What materials development and research are required to make this vision possible?
What design, development, and diffusion processes are most likely to produce new, effective approaches to STEM education?
The report identifies critical research and developmental activities and calls upon funding agencies and the field to focus attention on these activities. The report is available at http://www.mathcurriculumcenter.org/conferences/stem/index.php
ABET ANNUAL CONFERENCE. ABET will hold its Annual Conference October 27-29 at the Tremonts Historic Venue and All-Suite Hotel in Baltimore, MD. The conference kicks off with a one day workshop on Sustainable Development followed by two days of interactive panels, breakout sessions and town hall meetings. All ABET member societies, volunteers, faculty and administrators, industry leaders and international representatives are encouraged to attend. 2011 LEMELSON/MIT INNOVATION AWARDS - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS. The Lemelson/MIT program is now accepting nominations for their annual program for two major awards that recognize exceptional inventive achievements - the $500,000 Lemelson/MIT Prize and the $100,000 Lemelson-MIT Award for Sustainability.
