Engineering Innovation Fellows pose in a congressional hearing room following a Q&A with a staff member from the House Science, Space and Technology Committee. The NSF-funded pilot program, administered by ASEE, is open to NSF Graduate Research Fellows.  

 

ASEE'S K-12 ANNUAL WORKSHOP - ASEE's Annual K-12 workshop will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This one-day program for teachers and engineering educators from both Canada and the United States will provide a fast-paced, exciting overview of engineering education for the K-12 classroom. Attendees will discover valuable best practices, new contacts for collaboration, and the latest tools for effective teaching. NASA INTERNSHIPS - NASA is offering fall and spring semester paid internships for undergraduate and graduate students. Internships are in a variety of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines as well as business and finance.

 

The deadline for fall semester internship applications has been extended to May 31, 2011. Interested students can apply at: http://intern.nasa.gov

DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR NOMINATIONS - The ASEE Nominating Committee, chaired by Most Immediate Past Presdient J.P. Mohsen, requests member participation in nominating board officers for the 2012 ASEE elections. Officers to be nominated for society-wide positions are: President-elect and Vice President, Member Affairs. Send nominations in writing, marked confidential, by June 6, 2011. For nominations for the Office of President-elect, please include an advocacy statement. Mail nominations to J.P. AIMBE TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP - PALO ALTO - The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) is hosting a workshop, Defining the Industry-Academic Relationships for Effective Technology Transfer in Medical and Biological Engineering, June 13-14 in Palo Alto, California. The specific emphasis will be streamlining the effectiveness of partnerships between academia and industry. Space is limited; registration is on a first-come, first serve basis. ISTEC WORKSHOP AT CORNELL - Cornell University will be hosting a university-industry workshop on the integration of simulation technology into engineering curricula July 22-23, 2011 in Ithaca, N.Y. The workshop will be of interest to all engineering faculty who use or would like to use simulation technology in their courses and projects. It will also be of interest to engineers in industry who work with simulation technology.
