Michigan Technological University-Senior Lecturer Positions

Michigan Technological University, Department of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics (ME-EM) invites applications for a non-tenure-track senior lecturer position. We seek candidates with expertise and experience in vehicle dynamics, dynamic systems, and model-based design. Basic functions and responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses, mentoring students in career matters, serving on committees, conducting outreach activities periodically, and assisting with department assessment.

Required qualifications are a PhD in mechanical engineering or closely related field or a combination of education and at least five years experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired, class room teaching experience, and demonstrated organizational skills. For full consideration, complete application packages should be received by November 27, 2017; however, applications will be considered until the position is filled. Our graduate program is ranked 65th nationally among the 170 (top 38%) doctoral granting Mechanical Engineering Departments in the U.S. by the 2018 U.S. News & World Report: America's Best Graduate Schools (ranked in 2017). Our department is 10th in MSME degrees awarded, 6th in MSME enrollment, 30th in PhD degrees awarded, and 30th in PhD enrollment in the U. S. (2015 ASEE data). The National Science Foundation (NSF) ranks Mechanical Engineering at Michigan Tech 23rd in research expenditures with $12.962 million among all Mechanical Engineering programs in the U.S. Our undergraduate program is currently 20th in the U.S. in BSME degrees awarded and 7th in enrollment (2015 ASEE data). We have been in the top 23 in BSME degrees awarded for the past 33 consecutive years.
