Center for Undergraduate Research of Biofilms (Doane University) Post-Doctoral Research Fellow

Position Summary:
Doane University is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for the Center for Undergraduate Research of Biofilms for January 2018-May 2019 with a possible extension to May 2020. This position is an NIH funded research and teaching university staff appointment with opportunities to work on interdisciplinary research at a primarily undergraduate institution. This researcher will work in collaboration with science faculty and undergraduate researchers from across STEM fields to study various aspects of biofilms.

Position Responsibilities:
Management and design of undergraduate research projects related to biofilms
Biofilm research design and project completion for faculty and students
Providing publication and presentation support for faculty and students
Biofilm research involving high throughput microfluidic devices, surface modifications for biofilm inhibition, image analysis and modeling, fluorescence microscopy, and characterization of biofilms with various forms of spectroscopy.
Teach Organic Chemistry Laboratory

Position Requirements:
PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, Biology, Physics or Related Field
Experience with sterile cell culture of bacterial (preferred), yeast , and/or mammalian cells
Experience with operation (preferred) or theory of bioreactors
Bioflux microfluidic microarray bioreactor
Tissue culture plate
CDC Reactor
Drip Flow Reactor
Experience with microorganism characterization techniques
Fluorescence Microscopy (preferred) and Image Analysis
Fluorometric or colorimetric assays (preferred)
Cell and/or colony counting techniques
RNA and protein analysis
Surface modification and characterization techniques
