University of Alabama at Birmingham-School of Engineering - Assistant Professor - Non Tenure-Track - Dean's Office

The School of Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor, non-tenure track, 12-month position. This position is part of our emphasis on the undergraduate engineering experience and has teaching and advising responsibilities. The successful candidate will teach in undergraduate introductory engineering courses and will serve as a pre-engineering advisor. Primary advising responsibilities include working with students to identify goals and develop educational plans to reach them; help students understand degree requirements, course selection, and schedule planning; refer students to resources across campus appropriately; and help students understand and follow UAB academic policies and procedures. This position will also involve representing the school of engineering at new student orientations and student engagement events and at University recruiting events as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have an earned bachelor's degree and a master's degree in biomedical, civil, electrical, materials or mechanical engineering, or a related area of engineering, from an from an ABET-accredited institution. Preference will be given to applicants with prior professional or teaching experience in engineering graphics and/or programming or academic advising. This position requires a limited amount of evening and weekend hours as well as the potential to travel within the state.
