Tenured, Full or Associate Professor
Engineering Education Research, the University of Michigan

The College of Engineering (CoE) at the University of Michigan (UM) recently hired four tenured/tenure-track faculty members as part of an initiative to develop an engineering education research (EER) program. These four faculty are appointed in traditional engineering departments, but their scholarship is in EER, a field which focuses on and applies research methods from education, learning sciences, and social-behavioral sciences to address a variety of issues pertaining to teaching and learning, college access and persistence, workforce development, and other issues critical to the success of the field of engineering. At present, UM is seeking a fifth, tenured EER faculty member at the Full or Associate Professor rank.

The EER faculty member hired through this search will be appointed in an engineering department and will provide leadership in the development of a brand new EER graduate program at the UM. The first class of students will enroll in the new graduate program in Fall 2018. More details are available at: https://eer.engin.umich.edu. In addition to establishing a thriving research program in EER, which includes advising graduate and undergraduate students, this EER faculty member will teach in both his/her engineering discipline and in the EER graduate program, and he/she will provide service in support of both the engineering department and EER program.

Candidates should have either: (1) a Ph.D. in Engineering Education with a minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, or (2) a Ph.D. in engineering or related STEM field and EER experience. Candidates should also have scholarship and publication records appropriate for appointment at the Full or Associate Professor rank with tenure.
