The Mechanical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position for Fall 2018. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests or work experience in materials, advanced or additive manufacturing, and mechatronics with automotive applications. The successful candidate will teach existing undergraduate- and graduate-level courses and potentially develop new courses within their field of expertise. The successful candidate is expected to establish an externally funded research program, be committed to scholarly activity, and be engaged in service to the profession and the university. The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate with existing faculty members within the department and across campus including those within the Center of Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing and the SimCenter: Center of Excellence in Applied Computational Science and Engineering. Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate their teaching competency and to articulate their plan to develop and sustain a research program. Applications must include a cover letter, a teaching statement, a research statement, and a curriculum vitae, including names, title, and contact information of at least three references.
