Faculty Position in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Transportation Engineering

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at University of Louisville invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of sustainable transportation effective July 2018. This position is expected to be filled at the rank of assistant professor. A Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering is required. Professional Engineering licensure (PE) or plans to pursue PE registration is expected.

This position is part of a multi-year, department-wide thematic cluster hire in the area of infrastructure and sustainability. Candidates with specific research expertise in resilient and sustainable transportation systems are particularly encouraged to apply. All faculty members in the CEE Department are expected to develop a strong record of scholarly work and sponsored research. Likewise, candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching as well as to specialized graduate education.

A successful candidate is expected to have a focus in sustainability issues related to transportation and civil engineering infrastructure. Faculty members will be expected to work across multiple program areas within the department as we expand our focus on sustainability. Ideally, competitive candidates should have experience and/or training in transportation system resilience, transportation planning, transportation economics, freight transportation modeling, or infrastructure and transportation policies. Successful candidate will be required to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate coursework focused on general sustainability topics, as well as more traditional areas of civil and environmental engineering.
