Professor of Practice, Engineering Technology

New Mexico State University (NMSU), Las Cruces, seeks a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Professor of Practice in the Department of Engineering Technology and Surveying Engineering (ETSE) to support its online Information Technology (IT) programs.

Essential Qualifications
• Education: Master’s or higher degree (in hand by hiring date) in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Enterprise Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Five years of relevant, applied Information Technology work experience in an industrial environment.

Core Responsibilities
This role is central to delivering high-quality, industry-relevant online education:
Instruction & Curriculum: Design, develop, and deliver hands-on, application-based online IT courses. Continuously improve curriculum through collaboration with peers and industry partners to align with emerging technologies and workforce needs.

Student Success: Foster student engagement and success via inclusive course design, proactive communication, and virtual learning communities.

Service: Contribute significantly to program-level assessment, curriculum mapping, and accreditation. Participate in departmental service and outreach, and pursue professional development. Applied scholarship is encouraged but not required.
