ASEE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
In pursuit of academic excellence and advancing ASEE's mission of furthering education in engineering and engineering technology, we are expanding our education and career development opportunities. In addition to face-to-face conferences and meetings, we launched ASEE Online Learning in January 2017 with the webinar series Engineer your Career: Success for New and Up-and-Coming Professionals. Webinars will address a number of relevant topics for the many segments of our members and stakeholders.
Action on Diversity Webinar: Empathy in Engineering
Drs. Jo Walther and Nicki Sochacka (UGA College of Engineering) discuss the importance of empathy in the engineering curriculum, how to encourage empathy in the classroom, and why empathy should be established as a 'core skill' for future engineers. Dr. Shari Miller (UGA School of Social Work) offered her unique perspective on empathy. To request access to webinar slides and recording, email email@example.com.
These free online workshops help faculty, staff and students build knowledge and skills to create a more inclusive environment for LGBTQ individuals in STEM, emphasizing action strategies for allies. Workshops this year occur on November 7, November 21, and December 5. Learn more about the different workshops and register here.
