INNOVATE. INSPIRE. EDUCATE.
America’s leadership in the global economy and high quality of
life and opportunity stem from engineering and technology research. Innovations
in these areas fuel economic growth, fortify national security systems,
improve healthcare, and safeguard the environment. But sustaining American
preeminence in these areas will prove difficult without a highly trained
workforce and technologically literate citizenry.
Educators agree that the solution lies in cultivating a lasting love
for engineering, science, technology, and math from the very beginning
of a student’s education. To answer this call, engineering educators
have created a broad variety of activities to make these subjects fun
and accessible to students in grades K-12. From outreach programs to off-the-shelf
curricula to student competitions, engineering educators are working with
their colleagues in elementary, middle, and high schools to develop and
deliver engineering education activities for the K-12 classroom.
Engineering,
Go For It! is designed to attract high school students
and their parents and teachers to the wide world of engineering and technology.
It does this by focusing on the things and activities and people that
inform teens' lives and values. By bringing engineering into the world
they already know, Engineering, Go For It! opens up new worlds of opportunities
and rewards for teen-agers to consider as they make the decisions that
will determine their future.

This
Center seeks to gather in one place the most effective engineering education
resources available to the K-12 community. All activities under the EngineeringK12
Center are shaped by three guiding principles:
- Building public awareness of K-12 engineering education
- Providing education resources
- Extending networks among groups with an interest in K-12 engineering
education
