University of Texas at Dallas-Multiple Positions

Come Grow with Us

Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science

Multiple tenured and tenure track positions

The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas invites outstanding applications for tenured and tenure-track positions in the areas of bioengineering / biomedical engineering, computer science, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering and systems engineering. The Jonsson School is also hiring a Head of the Department of Computer Science.

UT Dallas is the second fastest growing public doctoral university in the country according to The Chronicle of Higher Education. The University was originally established just over 50 years ago as a graduate research center by the founders of Texas Instruments Inc. and has maintained strong ties to industry since its inception. Over 1,000 high-tech companies are located within a few miles of the campus, including Texas Instruments Inc., Walmart Labs, AT&T, Fujitsu, Raytheon Co., Collins Aerospace, Cisco Systems Inc. and more. Extensive opportunities for joint university-industry research projects are available. The University and the State of Texas are also making considerable investments in the commercialization of technology developed in university labs, including 16 business incubations from the Jonsson School alone. The school also maintains ongoing research collaborations with UT Southwestern Medical Center.

With more than 8,400 students enrolled in 2019 and more than 150 tenure-system faculty, the Jonsson School is one of the fastest-growing schools of engineering in the United States. To provide research space for the rapidly expanding Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Bioengineering, the school has added more than 420,000 square feet of new construction within the past five years.

Tenure-system faculty at UT Dallas are expected to build robust research programs and secure external funding while providing high quality undergraduate and graduate education. Interdisciplinary researchers are sought throughout the Jonsson School, particularly in areas including biomechanics, bioelectronics, biomaterials, virtual/augmented reality, artificial intelligence, quantum computing systems, Internet of Things, autonomous systems and nanoelectronics.

UT Dallas provides equal opportunity in education and employment for all students and employees and strongly encourages applications from candidates who would enhance the diversity of the University’s faculty and administration.
