Attendance at the Annual Workshop and Forum at the Arlington VA Hilton Hotel involved 112 paid registrants (87 who registered for the workshop, summit, and forum and 25 who registered for the forum only). The Summit theme was “Engineering Research in an International Environment”. The Workshop themes were “Research Administration” and “Administering to Research Centers”. The Forum theme was “Engineering Research Challenges in a Changing World”. A highlight of the event was a presentation at the Forum Banquet by Dr. John Marburger, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Science Advisor to the President of the United States.
The ASEE ERC did not award the Curtis W. McGraw Research Award to an outstanding early career researcher this year. Ways were discussed to increase the number of high quality nominees. Because an insufficient number of nominations were received for the ERC Research Administrator Award, this honor was not presented this year.
