On Sept. 14 the University of New Hampshire School of Law will host an informative symposium on the American Invents Act, perhaps of interest to ASEE members, actively involved in technology and innovation on a daily basis.

New patent laws will have an impact on engineering and the symposium will discuss how to protect ideas under the American Invents Act.

The University of Portland was awarded $1.2 million from NSF to suppport STEM students and educators. The Noyce Scholars and Interns Program will provide $900,000 in paid summer internships with Saturday Academy and scholarships to students in STEM majors as well as STEM professionals who are considering changing their careers and becoming elementary and secondary school teachers. Spearheaded by University of Portland mathematics professor Stephanie Salomone, the Noyce Scholars and Interns Program is the result of an unprecedented, comprehensive partnership between the College of Arts and Sciences, The Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering, the School of Education, the Moreau Center for Service and Leadership, Saturday Academy, and Portland Public Schools.
