ASEE'S COMPUTERS AND EDUCATION JOURNAL-CALL FOR PAPERS

Assessment is an integral part of the modern educational paradigm and a necessary component of the accreditation process. Despite its central role, it is frequently assigned as an ancillary duty to faculty members who are busy with other activities and lack training in pedagogical assessment. We are soliciting submissions for an upcoming special issue concerning tools, techniques and case studies for assessing computer programming education.

The deadline is April 1, 2011. Please submit e-mail submissions to ed-pub@crosslink.net. Direct questions to esposito@usna.edu or piepmeie@usna.edu

CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE ENGINEERING WORKSHOPS

CSE workshops for faculty members teaching engineering courses will be offered by the Center for Sustainable Engineering, a partnership of Syracuse University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Texas at Austin, Arizona State University and Georgia Institute of Technology. Two similar workshops will be held May 23-24 and May 26-27, 2011 in Syracuse, NY. The goal of these workshops is to assist engineering faculty members who would like to include material on sustainability in their courses.
All participants are expected to pay their own travel costs to Syracuse. NSF funds will cover the expenses of the workshop, including ground transportation, food, lodging and workshop materials.

Applications are now open at http://www.csengin.org and will continue until January 15, 2011. For further information, contact Ms. Kathleen Forrest at kforrest@syracusecoe.org

A slightly shorter version will be presented just after the 2011 IEEE International Symposium on Sustainable Systems and Technology during May 16-19, 2011 in Chicago. The call for papers (CFP) for this IEEE symposium is available at: http://ieee-issst.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?
