A new Student Chapter of ASEE has been established at Ohio Northern University.

Chapter president and ASEE Student Member Mr. Tyler Hertenstein says: “…In 2011, Ohio Northern University started the first ever "Engineering Education" undergraduate program in the country. Myself, along with 3 classmates, became pioneers in this new program, and are hoping to make it stand out.

"Now, there are currently 12 engineering education majors here at ONU, and it appears to be growing as our success becomes known. We would like to share our success on the national level, and we would like to do that through ASEE. Also, in the spring of 2012, our advisor (Dr. Ken Reid), two eng. ed. classmates and I co-authored and presented two papers at the ASEE North-Central conference, so having a student chapter would make events like that even better. Although ASEE has a large number of graduate student members, Ohio Northern University does not have any graduate programs - excluding law and pharmacy - so most likely all members will be undergraduate students or professors…”

Dean Dr. Eric Baumgartner expresses his support of the new chapter, stating "...the ASEE student chapter will gain access to financial resources from both the university and the college. I am confident that they will become a vibrant campus organization and will also contribute significantly to the national ASEE organization."

The Executive Leadership in Academic Technology and Engineering program (ELATE at Drexel) seeks to develop the women as leaders by advancing their knowledge and skills in strategic finance and management, personal and professional leadership effectiveness, and academic organizational dynamics.

ELATE is now accepting applications for its 2013-2014 class through its online application.
