Engineers Forum on Sustainability

Welcome to the Forum!

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the IEEE (IEEE) have joined together to co-sponsor "The Engineers Forum on Sustainability." The mission of the Forum is to help promote the principles and practice of sustainability by:

  1. providing a meeting place for interdisciplinary discussion and exchange of information;
  2. identifying and distributing information on engineering education programs that incorporate sustainability;
  3. encouraging practicing engineers to apply the principles of sustainability and participate in sustainability programs and activities at local, regional and national levels, and
  4. keeping abreast of and sharing information on international developments that can contribute to global sustainability.

The Forum meets three times yearly at the National Academy of Engineering in Washington, D.C., and a periodic newsletter is prepared highlighting the issues, activities, and developments discussed at the meetings.

We hope that you will find our newsletter interesting and useful in keeping abreast of current sustainable development programs and activities. We have tried to provide a contact name and number for each article so that you can pursue items of particular interest in greater detail.
