Chair, Department of Engineering and Technology
East Carolina University invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Engineering. The Chair of the Department will serve as the department’s chief administrative officer and report to the Dean of the College. The Chair will work closely with the Dean and the College’s leadership team to achieve the College’s shared priorities: maximizing student success, enhancing excellence in academic programs, and advancing research and scholarship. ECU seeks a Chair committed to excellence in engineering education and scholarship who will provide support and leadership to the faculty, staff, and students of a maturing general engineering undergraduate program and emerging disciplinary graduate programs.

It is preferred that the Chair have an earned terminal degree in a discipline represented in the College as well as have the qualifications for appointment with permanent tenure at the rank of Professor. Qualified candidates will have an established record of professional development and accomplishments as an academic leader at the program or department level, including strategic planning, management of staff and budgets, and faculty recruitment, mentoring, and retention.
