The Engineering Leadership Program at Cornell University is seeking two (2) faculty members to join our team of talented, passionate professionals committed to the vision of Leadership for All. Cornell Engineering holds the radical views that all engineers need a strong foundation in followership, leadership, teamwork, and ethical communication; and that all engineering students have the right to high-quality personal and professional development as part of their education.
The ELP offers a variety of transformational programs to engage students at different levels of commitment and developmental readiness. Our offerings are based in science and include elements of personal reflection and experiential learning. We judge our effectiveness by measuring cognitive and behavioral impacts, and strive for innovation, excellence, and continual improvement in everything we do. Since its inception in 2012, the Cornell Engineering Leadership Program has established a strong track record of success that engenders trust and collaboration among stakeholders within and outside the College of Engineering. We are now in an exciting period of growth in service of our goal to establish interpersonal, team, and ethical leader skills development as core elements of a Cornell Engineering degree.
We invite applications for two (2) faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Professor of Practice. Responsibilities include co-teaching in existing offerings including our flagship Engineering Leadership Certification Program; WE LEAD (Women’s Engineering Leadership Education and Development); and Leadership Skills Clinics, our vehicle for expanding core skills development to all students. Faculty will collaborate with the Executive Director to develop, deliver, and manage additional offerings that advance our strategic priorities. There is significant opportunity for program leadership and institution-building as we move to integrate current programs in engineering communications, leadership, and ethics over the next 1-2 years.
Each position is a non-tenure-track role ideal for someone with significant higher education experience and an earned Ph.D. degree who is passionate about teaching and student development. Research is encouraged but not required. The teaching responsibilities will be at the Cornell Ithaca campus.
The successful candidate(s) will have the following qualifications. Note that qualifications for the Professor of Practice position include distinguished professional experience and a record of practice-oriented instruction.
· Doctorate in organizational behavior, management, leadership, psychology, or a related field. Master’s degree will be considered if combined with qualifying professional experience.
· A track record of innovation and teaching excellence in higher education or corporate professional development
· Evidence of a thoughtful and effective approach to creating inclusive learning environments
· Leadership coaching certification or experience is preferred
· A background in engineering or experience working in an engineering or technical academic or professional setting is preferred
