Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Entertainment Networking and Controls Systems

The Department of Theatre at Purdue University, in collaboration with Purdue’s Fusion Studio for Entertainment and Engineering, seeks applicants for a new position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice in Entertainment Networking and Controls Systems. The successful candidate will create innovative new courses and interdisciplinary curricula and develop partnerships with live entertainment companies to explore new technologies and their application in industry. Exceptional candidates will have expertise related to automation controls and networking for entertainment venues and designs, with backgrounds in technologies including but not limited to information technologies, wireless communications, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), embedded digital systems, entertainment control protocols, and/or scenic automation.

Applicants will be a highly qualified, creative individual with an MFA or terminal degree(s) and at least five years of experience in industry working on projects related to theatre, live entertainment, and/or related fields. The applicant for this position should have demonstrated creative, critical or unconventional approaches to the aforementioned technology (including professional practices and improvisational designs such as hardware/software hacking) and working with students to formulate professional solutions from these experiences.
