Outstanding Young Faculty Award

The purpose of this award is to encourage and recognize young faculty participation in ASEE or engineering education activities and events.

The Award: The annual award consists of a $500 honorarium and a certificate of recognition. Presentations are made at the section annual meeting with notation in the ASEE Annual Awards Banquet Program.

Past Award Winners

1. Current or past member of ASEE GSW Section
2. A tenure track faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank who has less than 8 years of experience from the date of first academic appointment
Candidates may be faculty members in engineering, engineering technology, or in disciplines supporting engineering programs.

Any member of the GSW section may nominate candidates for this award by preparing a nomination package that includes an ASEE General Award Nomination Form, candidate’s curriculum vitae, and a nomination rationale statement highlighting the faculty’s contribution to engineering education and active participation at ASEE events. Supporting letters are recommended to strengthen the nomination but not required.

Selection: The selection will be made by the section Awards Committee. Contributions and activities in some of the following areas are important and will be considered in the selection process.
1. Course, laboratory, and curriculum development
2. Authorship of instructional materials
3. Publication and presentations at the professional meetings that enhance engineering education
4. Contributions and participation in ASEE events, or educational activities at other professional societies
5. Scholarly activities related to engineering or engineering technology
6. Advising and service to graduate and undergraduate students

The nomination package should be mailed to the ASEE-GSW section Awards Committee Chair.
