The Board of Directors confers the grade of Fellow Member to recognize outstanding contributions to engineering education or engineering technology education and considerable individual contributions to ASEE. (The Committee construes the scope of engineering education and engineering technology education to include the many and varied activities that make up the programs of ASEE.) The candidate shall hold active membership at the time of nomination and shall have been a member for a period of ten years or more preceding July 1 of the year of election. To confirm a potential nominee's join date, go to ASEE’s membership directory.
The grade of Fellow Member is an honor which an individual cannot seek. Rather, another active member must initiate the nomination. A member can nominate only one individual each year. The grade of Fellow Member cannot be conferred upon a current member of the ASEE Awards Policy Committee. Nominees approved by the Awards Policy Committee for Fellow Membership are announced at the ASEE Annual Meeting, at which time Fellow certificates and pins are presented in an appropriate ceremony. Advance information on Fellow Membership selection is made available, as early as possible, to nominees who are selected and to their nominators.
